concept
This work is part of the annual project of Taipei 101 from 2018—researching towards cityscape from the psychological and touristic point of view. Based on many mainstream tourist websites, I chose Taipei 101, one of the most representing tourist attractions in Taipei city as the main subject to investigate. I collected online photos and used them as the primary database resource, and I also collected on-site photos gathered as a control group. I then redid the collecting data process again in September 2019. By using photogrammetry, I created two models out of the database that I made in 2018 and 2019. I want to analyze the models from the rational view helped by the modelling programme and then rethink about how the 3d image can generate from the pictures that I gathered. I am hoping to find out the relationship between these models, which relatively leads to the question of how can the image production influences the environment from the web.
The viewer can investigate more in this piece from a series of 3D printed in porcelain and screenprinting made from frottage drawing. The sketch of the frottage drawing is coming from the google map satellite picture of Shin-Yi Dist (where the Taipei 101 situates).
I then painted the whole picture with pencil ink, using it as the ink resource while doing frottage in every line in the image. I aim to finish this frottage until I get no ink from the paper. There are two frottage paintings I have finished, and the third one is still on-going.
Sculptures made from photogrammetry image contributed by merely the online photos. Then I 3D printed the image in porcelain again and again and glazed in clear crackle glaze. In the end, I got 13 prints. Though the process is almost like printmaking, surprisingly, each of them is not identical. Both sculptures and drawings made from continuous making process, but I tried to put my ' laboring wonder' in my practice in this particular amount of production work.
